Alice (少女 Shōjo) is the twelfth episode of the second anime season, Rozen Maiden Träumend. It first aired in Japan on January 26, 2006.

Summary[]

Suigintou is quickly driven into the ground by Shinku, who chastises her for forcing the other dolls to fight. Suigintou realizes that she is using Megu's power and reverts to a defensive strategy. As Jun gives up on getting answers from "Rozen", he departs the mansion only to be blocked by Barasuishou. She traps him in a stack of crystals and runs off to find Suigintou and Shinku. Barasuishou defeats Suigintou from behind, leaving Shinku to fend for herself against Barasuishou.

With Suigintou defeated by Barasuishou, it would make sense for both her and Souseiseki's Rosa Mystica to be given to Barasuishou. Suigintou's strong attachment to Megu is said to be the reason that her own Rosa Mystica is given instead to Shinku, as her potential connection to Megu is stronger than that of Barasuishou's. Going into the final showdown, Shinku is thus aided by the abilities of Suigintou and Hinaichigo, whilst Barasuishou seems advantageous with the powers of Kanaria, Suiseiseki, and Souseiseki. Even with an on-paper disadvantage, Shinku does well enough Barasuishou to give her an opportunity to steal all the Rosa Mystica and claim victory. Before she can do so, Barasuishou gives one final stab, knocking her to the ground. It is revealed that "Rozen" is indeed merely Enju, a former student of Rozen, and that Barasuishou was his creation.

Jun protests the outcome and orders that the dolls be revived. Enju kicks him away and admires his "perfect" doll. She begins to crumble, however, and upon falling apart completely the Rosa Mystica are released into the air, with Enju and the remnants of Bara vanishing. The real Rozen intervenes to revive Suigintou, Kanaria, Suiseiseki, and Shinku. In her dream world, Jun and Shinku are reunited. They learn that although there is another way to end the Alice Game, Souseiseki and Hinaichigo were unable to be restored.

Back in the real world, the doll shop becomes abandoned, Suigintou returns to Megu, Kanaria returns to Micchan, and Suiseiseki and Shinku return to Jun, along with the lifeless bodies of Souseiseki and Hina. Laplace's Demon is shown to possess their Rosa Mystica as he flies through the N-Field, encountering the real seventh doll, Kirakishou.

Important Events[]

  • Suigintou's Rosa Mystica is taken by Shinku.
  • Barasuishou defeats Shinku in the Alice Game, crumbling to bits shortly afterward.
  • Rozen intervenes to restore the dolls that were defeated by Barasuishou and reunite them with their masters.

Trivia[]

  • This episode lacks a title card entirely, preferring instead to superimpose bordered text over the initial events of the episode.
  • This episode's eyecatches occur unusually early - less than five minutes after the opening compared to the standard nine or ten. This makes the second part of the episode significantly longer than the first.
  • Kirakishou, the real seventh doll, makes a cameo appearance, although her name is not explicitly mentioned and her appearance differs slightly from other media.
