Suigintou / Mercury Lampe (水銀燈 Suigintō) is the third episode of the Rozen Maiden anime series. It first aired in Japan on October 21, 2004.
Summary[]
The episode begins with a preview of the dream world belonging to Suigintou, the first Rozen Maiden doll.
In the real world, Jun is not too thrilled to begin another day, particularly with Hinaichigo's childish antics. Nori prepared a fancy breakfast for the dolls, but Hina only wants her favorite snack - the only trouble being that she doesn't know the name, only a bunch of adjectives pertaining to it. Nori can't figure it out even after having Hina draw a picture of it, but she promises to find it on her way home from school.
Later, Jun comes downstairs and finds Hina's childish scrawl. Seeing how much it upsets her not to have her beloved "unyuu", he softens up and temporarily parts ways with his hikikomori lifestyle to try and find it.
As he leaves, Suigintou plans her entrance from the mirror in the storage room. Shinku and Hina come across Suigintou's trail of feathers leading to the storage room. Suigintou makes an appearance, revealing that she was behind the clown doll attack of the first episode. She somehow knows that Hina has been defeated, to which Shinku explains her preferred way to play the Alice Game. After a minor skirmish, Suigintou retreats into the mirror and promises to return soon.
Out in the city, Jun bumps into Tomoe while looking for "unyuu" (revealed to be ichigo daifuku, a soft rice cake with strawberry and chocolate inside.) The two talk for a while before parting ways. Jun and Nori both bring home plenty of ichigo daifuku. Hina is overjoyed, as you might expect, and takes quite a liking to Jun in particular. All seems well, but Shinku knows it won't last forever.
Important Events[]
- Suigintou makes her first appearance and has her first battle against Shinku.
- Jun leaves the house for the first time.
Trivia[]
- "Mercury Lampe" is partly English and partly German and means "Mercury Lamp".
- Animation error: When Jun is trying to figure out Hina's drawing, she magically appears at the left of the image rather than walking into frame.
