Barasuishou (薔薇水晶, Barasuishō / Rosenkristall / Rose Crystal) is an impostor, claiming to be the seventh doll. She was the seventh doll to appear in the anime and debuted in the first episode of Träumend, but does not appear in the manga.

Appearance[]

Based on her appearance, Barasuishou's creator, Enju, probably saw Rozen's design for Kirakishou and made Barasuishou from his recollection of the design, making Barasuishou Kirakishou's mirror image.

Barasuishou wears an ornately ruffled collar with a small, dark purple rose on it that covers the puffy part of the sleeves, a lavender dress with a wrap-around top, puffy sleeves at the shoulders and wide long sleeves, with two crystals dangling from the puffy parts. The skirt is below knee-length and has two layers, the top layer is lavender and joined to the top, the bottom is light pink, which obscure the top of her high purple laced-up boots. On her head are two matching rosebuds as the one on her collar, each accompanied by three crystals that tie a few strands of her hair back slightly. Her slightly wavy hair is long and white, and her one visible eye is yellow, as she wears a purple rose-adorned eyepatch over her left eye.

Personality[]

Barasuishou's personality is highly mercurial and unpredictable. She almost always appears emotionless, even as she mercilessly attacks the Rozen Maidens in order to gain their Rosa Mystica. She apparently cares very much for Enju, even if she does not typically express her feelings. In episode 12 of Träumend, when she demands Shinku's whereabouts from Jun Sakurada, she displays obvious anger as she attacks him. Later, she giggles and smiles disarmingly when Shinku pins her down to the floor. During the episode's climax, her eyepatch falls off and her face contorts with fear, and she begins to cry as her body and face start to crack. It is then shown that Barasuishou had no real need for the eyepatch, since her left eye appeared normal, and that the eyepatch was most likely a seal over her emotions.

History[]

Towards the end of the final episode, Barasuishou defeated Shinku who was the last remaining doll for the Alice Game. Barasuishou absorbed all the dolls Rosa Mysticas and became the last remaining doll. Her victory was only brief as something started to happen within her body as she looked distraught and panicked. Her body began to crack and shatter as her arms crumbled out of her attire. Her face began to crack as she cried out to Enju who embraced her. Both were engulfed in light and disappeared. Its unknown why this happened. Some speculate that is because Barasuishou wasn't a Rozen Maiden doll so her body could not contain the Rosa Mystica that ravaged her body.

Relationships[]

Enju[]

Enju, who Barasuishou addresses as "Father," is her creator, as shown in episode 12 of Träumend and Episode 1 of Ouvertüre. Enju was an apprentice of Rozen's, who was jealous of his master. Enju created her to collect the Rozen Maidens' Rosae Mystica and become the ultimate doll to prove he had surpassed his master. Though Barasuishou did collect the six Rosa Mystica (more accurately, the six known ones, considering Kirakishou had not been introduced at this point), she was unable to contain their power, and, as she cried out to her "Father," she began to crumble to pieces, and Enju lamented the destruction of his creation as he held her disintegrating body to his. They both disappeared in a brilliant flash of light, and their fate remains unknown.

Suigintou[]

Barasuishou managed to convince Suigintou that collecting a Rosa Mystica will help heal her medium of her disease, thus they often teamed up together against the other dolls in the Alice Game.

Kanaria[]

Barasuishou was not merciful to Kanaria when she snatches Suiseiseki's Rosa Mystica. She killed Kanaria with one blow.

Souseiseki[]

Barasuishou first managed to trick Souseiseki with an image of "Father", crying in despair to convince the others to fight in the Alice Game.

Shinku[]

Barasuishou seems to have an odd interest in her, just like Enju's admiration of her in fighting.

Kirakishou[]

Although Kirakishou and Barasuishou have never met, as Barasuishou only existed in the anime and died before Kirakishou was introduced, Barasuishou's overall design is extremely similar to hers.

Weapons and Skills[]

Barasuishou's abilities consist of the use of variably-sized purple crystals. She uses these quite freely, causing them to spike up from the ground in bunches (although she usually does this in order to intimidate the other Rozen Maidens or keep them distracted). She also uses them as swords, when she fights using a crystal sword, or as daggers, defeating Shinku when she was off guard by stabbing her with one that had previously been a hairpiece. She also instantaneously defeated Suiseiseki by freezing her inside one large chunk. As well as her crystal manipulation, Barasuishou also seems to have the ability to appear and disappear at will. She can also produce purple light from her body, and when she releases that light, it will explode.

Unlike the Rozen dolls, Barasuishou does not seem to posses an artificial spirit. This may be because Enju didn't know how to create one or Barasuishou wasn't aware of them.

Quotes[]

  • "Pitiful. It's so sad. You are so pitiful." -To Shinku and Jun
  • "You cannot fight me, can you? How pathetic and weak. And pitiful. In that case, I shall take great pleasure in breaking you." -To Shinku

Trivia[]

  • Barasuishou was created by Peach-Pit for Träumend as part of their original draft for that anime season.[1]
  • Barasuishou is the first doll to appear in the franchise to not be created by Rozen, though she is only in the 2004 anime continuity. Kodougu would later become the first doll introduced to the main continuity to not be created by Rozen.
